UNCW Softball rides hot first inning to CAA tournament opener win
Seahawks plated 5 runs in the bottom of the first
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – The #4 seeded UNCW Seahawks took down the Elon Pheonix in the opener of the CAA tournament Wednesday at Boseman Field.
The Seahawks only needed six hits to plate five runners, all of the scores happening in the first inning.
That early offense gave a big cushion for Second Team All-CAA pitcher Kara Hammock. The junior went the distance for her 13th compete game and 15th win of the season.
UNCW will face the top-seeded Campbell Camels Thursday at noon.
