Grad transfer guard had two of his best performances of the season against two of the best teams in the CAA

Wilmington, N.C. (WWAY) – UNCW graduate guard Bo Montgomery was one of five collegiate basketball players to be named Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association following an impressive week for the Seahawks.

Montgomery, also named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week on Monday, averaged 16.7 points on 53.3 percent (16-of-30) shooting from the floor with 5.3 rebounds per game to guide the Seahawks to a 3-0 week.

The Holy Cross transfer scored a career-high 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals in a matinee 85-74 win over the CAA’s last unbeaten conference team, William & Mary, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Montgomery followed up with a team-best 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor with two treys and a 4-for-4 showing at the line to defeat first-place Charleston, 85-83, on the road. The graduate guard chipped in eight points in 20 minutes of game action in the Seahawks’ 83-62 win vs. Hampton.

Montgomery is joined on the national weekly list by Mekhi Conner (Sacred Heart), Dawson Garcia (Minnesota), Max MacKinnon (Portland), and Milos Uzan (Houston).
