UNCW’s Shrita Parker named USBWA National Player of the Week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–Its been quite the week for UNCW redshirt senior Shrita Parker. On Monday Parker was awarded the CAA’s Player of the Week, on Tuesday she was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Women’s National Player of the Week.

Shrita helped guide UNCW to a perfect 2-0 record this week in conference play. She averaged 18.5 in the two wins. On Friday night Parker hit the game winning basketball for UNCW with 1.9 seconds to go as they took down previously unbeaten James Madison, 66-63. The Virginia native scored 17 points in UNCW’s victory on Sunday as well over Towson.

Parker and the Seahawks will hit the road again this weekend in CAA play. They will take on Delaware on Friday at noon, followed by Drexel in Philadelphia on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.
