VIDEO: Soldier delayed in airport watches daughter’s birth on FaceTime
(CNN) — A soldier was trying to make it home to Mississippi to see the birth of his daughter, but his flight was delayed several hours and he ended up watching his wife give birth via Facetime.
This photo shows the soldier seated on the floor of the airport, glued to his phone.
The image has been shared on Facebook more than 100,000 times.
The soldier, Brooks Lindsey, is part of the 2nd Battalion, 114th Field Artillery Regiment.
His wife, Haley Lindsey, said Brooks told her he needed to get off the phone to board his flight as soon as the baby started to crown, but she said airport personnel let him sit and watch until it was over.
Passenger Tracy Dover posted “this Army soldier had to watch the birth of his daughter on Facetime. He was crying and our hearts were breaking. We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him. I wanted to share this because I never want us to forget about our soldiers who serve us every day and the sacrifices they make.”
