Voter registration deadline is Friday, but you still have options if you missed it

BRUNSWICK, NC (WWAY) — The regular voter registration deadline ended at 5:00 p.m. Friday, but you can still register to vote until 11:59 p.m. on Friday using the NCDMV website.

If you’ve already registered and would like to request an absentee ballot, you have until October 29 to request one. Those ballots must arrive back at your county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on election day.

If you haven’t had a chance to register, Brunswick County Board of Elections Director Sara Lavere said you still have one more option.

“They can participate in same-day registration at early voting locations throughout the county once they open next week,” Lavere explained. “They would go to one of those locations, they would present proof of residency, show a valid photo ID, and they would be permitted to register and vote the same day.”

For the early voting period that starts next Thursday, October 17, you can vote early at any polling location in your county, not just your election day location.
