WHAT’S HAPPENING: May 24TH-26TH

WHATS HAPPENING (WWAY) — Memorial Day weekend is upon us and with nice weather likely to accompany it, there will be plenty going on in the Cape Fear.
Beginning in downtown Wilmington, it’s the 28th annual Orange Street ArtsFest. The festival will feature acrylics, oils, sculptures, drawings and more. Artists will be eligible for awards and prizes up to $550 and the event helps promote the arts in the community. Its happening Saturday and Sunday on Orange Street and 2nd to Dock Street.
In Brunswick County, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be helping those out on the water. Instructors will be holding a one day boating course. The course applies to powerboats, sailboats, paddle crafts and more. After the course, students will receive Coast Guard credentials and cards. Its happening at the Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation on Saturday in Supply from 8am-4pm. You must be 14 years or older, a $35 course fee is required for one person or $30 for two or more attendees. For registration, email CGAuxSafeBoating@ec.rr.com
Also in Wilmington, it’s the 2nd-annual Ukrainian Festival. The festival is a celebration of Ukrainian culture with music, dancing, food and performances from local talent. The event is free to the public and is family friendly. Its happening on Saturday from 12-6pm at Waterline Brewing Company.
From art, festivals and getting out on the water, there is plenty happening in the Cape Fear this weekend.
