WHATS HAPPENING: May 3rd-5th
CAPE FEAR (WWAY) — With the first weekend of May upon us, lets take a look at What’s Happening in the Cape Fear.
Beginning in Fort Fisher – the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will be holding its ‘Star Wars Day’ beach cleanup on Saturday, May 4th. Volunteers have been asked to wear Star Wars themed costumes during the clean up for a chance to win a prize. Volunteers are also asked to bring reusable gloves and tumblers, while avoiding bringing plastic. Its happening from 8-10am at the Fort Fisher Recreation Area.
In Southport, the 2024 Plein Air Festival is here once again. It will feature several artists painting outside across the city. The event will also feature art demonstrations, live music, food, wet paint sales an award ceremony. The event is taking place from Thursday – Saturday and is free to the public.
In Burgaw, it’s the annual Pender County Springfest . Residents and visitors can come together to celebrate the Pender County community, creativity and local pride. Springfest will feature local vendors, food, live music, handmade crafts and more. It kicks off Saturday at 8am on the Pender County Courthouse Sqaure.
In Wilmington – a two day Cinco De Mayo celebration will be taking place on Harnett Street downtown. There will be food, live music, drinks and plenty of dancing. Its taking place on both Saturday and Sunday from 4-9pm and 12-5pm.
