WHITEVILLE (WWAY) — A judge has found the chair of Whiteville City Schools guilty of assaulting a city employee.

Kandle Rogers learned her fate in court on Friday.

On Aug. 31, Rogers attempted to enter an area blocked off by city employees due to flooding from Tropical Storm Idalia.

A criminal summons report states that Rogers confronted the city worker who was placing cones in the roadway, and allegedly grabbed his left arm, causing scratches.

She received a 60-day suspended sentence and 12 months of supervised probation. Rogers must also perform 20 hours of volunteer service.

Rogers has appealed the verdict.
