The Search for Dog of the Year starts now
CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — Calling all dog lovers! Paws4people, a nationally recognized nonprofit based in Castle Hayne, is hosting its third annual Dog of the Year contest, and they want your four-legged friend to join the competition!
Paws4people trains and places assistance dogs for individuals in need, and the Dog of the Year contest is a fun way to bring the community together while supporting this important cause.
To enter, simply visit the paws4people website where you can register your dog or vote for your favorites. There’s a $10 entry fee, and all funds go directly to the foundation to help support their efforts.
Katie Blackwell, the Executive Administrator for Community Engagement at paws4people, shared why the contest means so much:
“It’s a fun thing that brings the community together. You get to see everyone’s dogs, it raises money for us, and it’s not just specific to service dogs, so it really brings the whole dog community together.”
The deadline to enter and vote is December 31st at 11:59 p.m., and there are prizes for the top three dogs.
