Wild bear crashes zoo opening
ANCHORAGE, AK (CNN) — The very first visitor to the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage on Wednesday was a wild animal.
The small black bear wandered into the zoo from a service road around 5:30 am. A tiger roared at the bear, which then ran up a tree, catching the attention of more tigers and curious wolves.
The staff corralled the predators and delayed the zoo’s opening. State fish and game crews assisted, as zoo keepers tried to lure the bear down with food. It finally climbed down and ran off back into the wild.
No one was hurt, and the zoo opened later in the day.
