Wilmington business owner charged with murder appears in court

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Both the Wilmington business owner charged with murder and one of the men he was confronting when the alleged shooting took place appeared in court Friday.

David Gore was searching in Bladen County for a boat stolen from his Wilmington business when he spotted and Ryan Thau at an abandoned lumber mill on December 23.

Gore admitted in a 911 call that he accidentally shot Blanchard.

Investigators say Blanchard and Thau did not have permission to be on the property. Thau is charged with felony larceny.

In court today, both Gore and Thau had their cases continued until March.
