Wilmington Christian Academy hosts signing day for two athletes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two local high schoolers will officially continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Monday was signing day at Wilmington Christian Academy.

The school said Sarah Funderburg and Georgia Davis are two of the best athletes to come out of Wilmington Christian Academy.

Sarah Funderburg will play golf next year at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Georgia Davis will play volleyball at King University in Bristol, Tennessee.

“I just went there and it felt perfect. It felt homey. The coaches and the team, it was all just such a good feeling and it just felt right,” Davis said.

“I’m definitely looking forward to playing on a women’s golf team. Like Coach Staton said, I’ve played on the men’s team for probably six years.”

Both girls were cheered on at Monday’s ceremony by family members, coaches and classmates.
