WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Phase one of the biggest stormwater project in Wilmington’s history has been completed.

Crews rebuilt the Clear Run Branch floodplain to alleviate chronic flooding along New Centre Drive.

The mile-long stream restoration project included a new sidewalk along College Acres Drive.

Phase two will begin in 2025.

When complete, crews say the $11 million project will alleviate chronic flooding in the vicinity of College Road and New Centre Drive.
