Wilmington Fire crews respond to small fire, smoke in building downtown

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington fire crews are responding to a small fire on Front Street in downtown Wilmington.
A Wilmington fire spokeswoman says the call came in just before 10:45 Thursday morning near Front and Grace streets.
A business called and said they heard popping noises and then, the fifth floor of the building in the 200 block of Front Street started filling with smoke.
The fire spokeswoman said smoke was coming from an HVAC unit.
No injuries have been reported.
According to a WWAY reporter at the scene, crews were clearing the area around 11:45 a.m.
