Wilmington gala and lip sync battle to benefit Carousel Child Advocacy Center
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 1960s-themed gala and lip sync competition is set for downtown Wilmington later this month to benefit the Carousel Child Advocacy Center.
The Peace, Love, Carousel Gala and Lip Sync Battle, presented by Hagood Homes, will be held April 17 at the Brooklyn Arts Center. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a red carpet reception, followed by the lip sync competition inside the venue.
Laura Carter of the Carousel Center says attendees can expect a mix of music, entertainment, and themed attire celebrating the 1960s. Local comedian Nancy Witter will serve as master of ceremonies, and local musician Sai Collins will perform live. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine, beer, and soft drinks are included with admission.
The lip sync battle features teams competing to raise funds for the Carousel Center’s programs. Guests can donate to vote for their favorite team, and a trophy is awarded to the top fundraising team. All proceeds support the center, which provides services to children who have experienced abuse or severe neglect, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.
Tickets are $125 for attendees over 21. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, consider ride-sharing due to limited downtown parking, and dress in 1960s-inspired attire, though costumes are optional.
