Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC hosting Beach Soccer Classic

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC is getting set to host the Beach Soccer Classic.
Games will be played at multiple sites throughout New Hanover County.
More than 150 teams participate yearly in the Beach Classic, and this year more than 3,000 kids are expected to take part.
That is creating a boost in tourism for the Cape Fear during the off months.
“We’re proud and happy to be a part of boosting the economy this weekend and having people stay in the hotels and eat at our restaurants and really share our great city with people who don’t live here,” said Hammerheads Youth FC Executive Director Carson Porter. “So that’s an important piece of this; there’s a lot of sports tourism going on. The industry is growing.”
The schedule for the tournament can be found here.
