WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is closing the Southeast Patrol Station on January 15th.

The station is located at 2451 College Road, and is being shut down due to the building being in poor condition and reaching the end of its use as a police department.

The space is currently in the process of being vacated.

“Number one, the timing is right after the recent acquisition by the city of the Skyline Center. It’s allowed us to move some functions to existing city owned property that is a lot newer and is actually a lot more functional,” said Lieutenant Greg Willett.

Employees who are currently based at that facility will be moved throughout the city to better serve the public.

WPD says they are not sure what will happen to the building once it closes, but if anyone needs to visit the police station, they will have to do so at their headquarters on Bess Street
