Wilmington Police Department officer featured on “Police 24/7” shares experience
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is giving a national TV audience a look at what it’s like working in law enforcement.
WWAY caught up with Wilmington Police Department’s Biss Kistler who is an officer featured on the CW show Police 24/7. She’s a Traffic Unit Officer with WPD.
“It was refreshing to see police officers get represented,” Kistler said.
Producers of the show say it’s designed to give viewers a closer look at police departments and sheriff’s offices across the U.S..
Kistler said filming crews rode along with her to get a look into her daily routine. She said she’s enjoyed the opportunity to showcase her life behind the badge.
“I just love being someone that someone interacts with as a cop, that’s not always going to be a negative interaction. I like to give myself the trademark ‘nicest cop in Wilmington’ and I hold that to a very high standard. No matter who I’m dealing with, I’m going to treat them fairly,” Kistler said.
Kistler said it was unusual to have someone riding along with her but it did not interfere with the job she said she takes pride in. She said this allows viewers a chance to see the process of responding to a call in a play-by-play format.
“What it looks like from the 911 calls, to the officers on scene, and how the officers handle themselves,” Kistler said.
More than anything, Kistler wanted to remind folks she’s just a local cop who’s sharing her journey in law enforcement on national TV.
“Because at the end of the day, we’re all normal people, no matter what job you do,” Kistler said.
You can watch Police 24/7 on the Cape Fear CW Tuesday nights at 8.
