Wilmington’s ‘Stone Soup Zine Fest’ returns for fifth year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s first and only indie comic festival returned for their fifth year.

‘Stone Soup Zine Fest’ was held at the Hannah Block Community Center Saturday numerous cartoonists, publishers and indie artists were at the alternative art market selling books, prints, stickers and more.

Giancarlo D’Alessandro, owner of Milk and Honey Comics organized the event.

He said the city needed an event like this one.

“Wilmington was lacking that, and we have the community, we have the people so it’s just like I want to see it here. I want people to come to Wilmington and celebrate it’s artistic roots. So, you gotta just make the world you wanna see I guess right,” D’Alessandro said.

D’Alessandro adds the festival has grown since the first one in 2018. Next year he hopes to bring in more people and artists.
