Wolfpack put up fourth 50 point performance of season
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Wolfpack put up 57 points. their fourth 50-plus point performance of the season. while shutting out West Columbus. This season, they are on a mission to prove the doubters wrong.
“They think just because we lost all the good players, we aren’t good,” Whiteville Cornerback Phillip Powell said. “But we have a full team of good players. They’re straight athletes.”
The team of athletes is led by Quarterback Ty Moss. The sophomore sensation and former 5th Quarter Player of the Week has been instrumental in the offensive explosion the team has had.
“Ty has been a has been a big difference for us,” Whiteville Head Coach Luke Little said. “Both Quarterbacks throw the ball and run the ball well. Something about Ty though. He sees the whole field like us coaches do.”
We have to give some credit to this defense. Led by Cameron Cartrette and the front line, the D has proven to be just as dominant as the offense. Cartrette says things are really starting to click for the team.
“We started out with a loss to East Bladen but we’ve come together more and more each week,” Cartrette said. “We’re starting to figure everything out.”
Looking on the surface, 57-0 is a near perfect performance. But this team doesn’t settle and they say teams need to look out for the Pack on the hunt.
“Oh we’re going to get better, trust me, day-by-day going into the playoffs,” Whiteville Runningback Keshawn Bellamy said. “We’re going to come out and play like we’re supposed to in these last two games so we can have a good run in the playoffs.”
