Woman arrested for reportedly threatening Wilmington gas station with machete

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman is in custody facing multiple charges after Wilmington police say she walked into a gas station waving around a machete.
According to Wilmington Police, shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th , officers responded to the Scotchman at 898 S. Kerr Ave.
Police say someone called 911 to report a woman in the store threatening people with a machete. When officers arrived, the woman was inside the store and still had the machete. Police say she ultimately dropped the machete and was taken into custody.
Wilmington police identified the woman as Carrie Shemeka McDonald, 39, from Wilmington. Police officers say McDonald also had Spice which is a synthetic drug.
McDonald is charged with possession of schedule I narcotics, going armed to the terror of the public, and resist, delay, and obstruct public officers.
McDonald is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under no bond.
