Woman found dead inside vehicle in Clarkton following 911 call

CLARKTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman was found dead inside a vehicle Friday morning after deputies responded to a disturbance call in Clarkton, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched on July 18 to the 100 block of Leach Bryant Road in Clarkton following a 911 call reporting a disturbance. When they arrived, they found 35-year-old Ashanta Hill unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that appeared to be stuck in the mud. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Also inside the vehicle were Cedric Williamson and a 2-year-old child. Authorities say the child was unharmed.
According to the sheriff’s office, Williamson had been assaulted by family members prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies reported that he appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
The vehicle had reportedly been missing since the previous night. An autopsy for Hill will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh.
