Women in Wrestling Fan Expo Packs a Punch Saturday


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many famous women in the wrestling industry came to the Port City this weekend to pack a punch on everyone’s plans.

The first event was the Women in Wrestling Fan Expo Saturday until 5pm where fans could meet their favorite ladies from pro wrestling.

The second event called Lasting Legacy – A Tribute to Women in Wrestling was held Saturday night which is the first-ever tribute to women in wrestling in a hall of fame style event in the history of the business.

Co-Founder of Masters of Ring Entertainment Bambi Weavil grew up in there area and says Wilmington has a community that supports pro wrestling so to have an event like this here was just right.

“It’s pretty amazing and I’m glad they get to come to see Wilmington as well the fans to come and see these women at a never before done event,” said Weavil. “It’s really rare for these girls to get together so it’s fun for everyone.”

Weavil says people from all over the world traveled to be at the event.
