Worker wounded in shooting over South Carolina bar closing

CHARLESTON, SC (AP) – South Carolina police say a bar patron shot and wounded an employee during an argument over the bar’s closing.

A Charleston police incident report says the shooting happened late Friday when a group of people became upset about being asked to leave the downtown bar at closing time.

Police said the group began arguing with security, and a 28-year-old employee of the bar went to help his coworkers.

Officials say one of the suspects in the group then took out a gun and fired shots at the staffer. The employee suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to the hospital.

The shooter escaped the scene.
