WPD searching for suspect accused of two armed robberies


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are searching for man they believe is responsible for two armed robberies of local businesses in the past 48 hours.

Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay said the first robbery happened Saturday morning at 4:51 at the CVS in the 4600 block of Oleander Dr. Witnesses said that a white male suspect walked in the store and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect stated he had a knife. Then, he fled the store with cash on foot headed southbound. Lindsay said he was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, shorts and a hat.

Lindsay said the second robbery happened at 8:52 pm Saturday at the Smoothie King at 415 South College Rd.  Witnesses said that a white male  wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, shorts and a hat walked in the store. He said he had a knife and then robbed the clerk. He then fled on foot, northbound.

Police believe the same man robbed both businesses. Attached is a photo from the Smoothie King robbery.
