Wreaths Across America covers Wilmington National Cemetery
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – When he addressed the crowd from the platform with the rows of graves surrounding it, Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo talked about during the first Wreaths Across America ceremony at Wilmington National Cemetery. He mentioned how about six wreaths were placed in the Cemetery.
On Saturday they covered every grave or marker site. More than 5,000 holiday wreaths were brought for the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony at the Wilmington National Cemetery.
The event is meant to in part honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in their service to our country, as well as remember those who still serve.
Groups from the Combat Veterans Association,Rolling Thunder and local VFW NC Auxiliaries take part in the wreath laying.
