WWAY Student Athlete of the Week: Caroline Prease

Wilmington Christian Academy volleyball star also uses her personal struggles as motivation

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – This week’s student athlete of the week is Caroline Prease from Wilmington Christian Academy.

The senior is a two-time all state libero. She also has aspirations to play in college.

Prease has a 4.3 GPA and wants to pursue a degree in psychology. She already has her life passion set up. After a Dyslexia diagnoses in the first grade, she had to overcome a lot of adversity to be the student she is today.

“A lot of kids don’t get the help or get tested,” said Prease. “I want to change that.”

She says she used to be accused of cheating because of the extra help her diagnoses required.  “I won’t say bullied, but there’s a lot of talk with the tutors and having to go through these courses… saying I cheated and stuff, that was the hard part of it because of course, I didn’t cheat.” That has helped fuel her motivation to not only excel academically, but also pass on her perspective to the next kid struggling with his or her diagnoses.
