WWAY Student Athlete of the Week: Gage Hickman

SHALLOTTE (WWAY) — Our WWAY Student Athlete of the Week comes from West Brunswick high school and he loves nothing more than a challenge.

Sophomore baseball player Gage Hickman has always loved baseball and he’s one of the best in his area at what he does. According to Coastal Preps, Hickman stole up to 10 bases this season on the diamond, making him one of the best base stealers in the area. After his freshman year,  Hickman realized the importance of maintaining his grades and been able to get straight A’s all of his sophomore year. Hickman said when it comes to juggling things on and off the field, you have to love the process.

“Don’t stress it, you have to love it all. You can’t not like something just so you can get to something else. You have to enjoy everything, every little conditioning, running, everything in between. You have to love it all, it’s the process that gets you there,” Hickman said.

Hickman said his favorite class is science and he hopes to play at the collegiate level after he graduates. Nominate our next WWAY Student Athlete of The Week here.
