WWAY Student Athlete of the Week: Luke Hobbs
TOPSAIL, NC (WWAY) — Our WWAY Student Athlete of the Week comes from Topsail high school where he excels on the field and in the classroom.
17 year-old Luke Hobbs is a captain of the Topsail boys lacrosse team. Although he’s only a junior, Hobbs is already committed to play Division I lacrosse at Virginia Military Institute. In the classroom, Hobbs maintains a 4.4 GPA and is in the National Honors Society. Hobbs also enjoys helping youth lacrosse players practice and get better at the sport they love.
When it comes to handling school, grades and life off the field, Hobbs said its important to be around those who are like-minded.
“I’d say to surround yourself with good people who have the same values as so you when it comes to sports and school, that want to put in the same work. Because if you surround yourself with them, you’ll be able to push each other to be the best version of yourself,” Hobbs explained.
Hobbs plans to study biology in college, but looks forward to trying to win a state championship for Topsail lacrosse before he leaves. You can nominate someone for WWAY Student Athlete of the Week here.
