CERRO GORDO, N.C. (WWAY) – West Columbus senior Seth Williams in the WWAY Student Athlete of the Week.
“I think it’s very important to be a student before athlete,” says Williams. “Sports can get you very far in life yes but at the end of the day being a student first is going to get you further.”
The first baseman and pitcher is hitting for a .343 average, slugging .542 and has a home run this year. He leads all those categories for the Vikings. He says the best attribute he has is his control.
He is committed to play baseball at Southeastern Community College, where he will continue studying engineering. He is already dually enrolled at the college and boats a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
His attributes his passion for engineering coming from a cousin of his named Chase, who went to ECU and is an engineer as well.
“One thing that sold me about being an engineer is creating things that make life easier one thing I enjoy about engineers is that they make life easier. That’s what I want to do in the future.”
