‘You can travel now:’ NCDOT moves to clear secondary roads of remaining snow
WILMNGTON, NC (WWAY) — Major roadways across our area are looking much better than earlier this week.
On Friday, the North Carolina Department of Transportation shared an update on where snow and ice remain.
New Hanover County Maintenance Engineer Blake Jacobs said most primary roads are now completely clear. He says crews are still on the ground assessing shaded or elevated areas that still need to be plowed.
“The trucks that are here in the area are focused on secondary roads,” he said. “You can travel now. The roads, majority of them are open. I would definitely use caution.”
Jacobs added the remaining salt residue on the road should be entirely gone by next week—at which point people can wash it off their cars.
