Youth of North Carolina hosts third annual Youth Resilience Summit at Port City Community Church

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — People from across the state gathered in Wilmington Thursday for an educational summit focused on the needs of youth.

Youth of North Carolina hosted their third annual Youth Resilience Summit Thursday at Port City Community Church in Wilmington. The event brings together leaders, non profits, school employees, mental health providers and law enforcement who work with youth across the state. The group’s goal is to educate anyone who works with youth in any capacity and connect them with available resources.

District Attorney Ben David said events like this help to address some of the underlying issues creating challenges for youth.

“We are fighting problems by creating community. This is about offering hope and resilience to our children, so that we can attack the root causes of a lot what we’re seeing at the court house. Which is, the social determinate of health are the same thing as the root causes of crime.”
