videoThe 2014 high school football regular season concluded on Friday night. Whiteville captured the regular season crown in the Three Rivers Conference. We had highlights from the Wolfpack's win over South Columbus along with coverage from two key matchups in the Four County Conference: Wallace Rose Hill vs. Clinton and East Bladen vs. West Bladen. UNCW men and women to host exhibition basketball games on Saturday; Kevin Keatts Show starts Sunday

Team of the Week - South Columbus

videoThe South Columbus football team lost their first four games of the 2014 regular season. The Stallions have been able to make a tremendous turnaround after making a few adaptations to their offense. As a result they've won five of their last six games. We made a trip to Stallion territory to honor South Columbus with the WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance Mayfaire Team of the Week award.

videoWe decided to be creative on Friday's 5th Quarter on WWAY. In fact Ron Burgundy made a special appearance, flying in all the way from San Diego. It's certainly worth watching if you didn't watch the 5th Quarter live on Friday night.

First round of boys soccer playoffs complete

videoThe first round of the soccer playoffs concluded on Wednesday night all around the state. The majority of our local squads won. Winners advance to the second round of the state playoffs later this week. Plus, we checked in with former UNCW Seahawk basketball standout Adam Smith on Wednesday. Smith now plays basketball at Virginia Tech.

Team of the Week - Whiteville Wolfpack

videoWhiteville High currently sports a five game winning streak in high school football. They've outscored their opponents 241-28 in their last five games. They're also alone in first place in Three Rivers Conference with perfect 5-0 league mark. That all adds up to Whiteville being recognized as this week's WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire "Team of the Week."

Volleyball playoffs continue; high school soccer regular season winds down

videoOn Wednesday New Hanover shutout Hoggard in boys soccer. We were there to see some of the action. The Wildcats will earn a league title if they can win on Thursday against Ashley. Four area volleyball teams will continue their state playoff journey on Thursday. In fact the Wilmington Christian squad has a shot at securing a state volleyball title this weekend in Greensboro.

WWAY's Team of the Week - New Hanover

videoThe football squad at New Hanover High is this week's WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week recipient. New Hanover defeated Laney last Friday 35-21 to improve their Mideastern Conference record to 2-1.

videoWe had quite an evening of high school football on WWAY's 5th Quarter. We showcased New Hanover's victory over Laney. We featured East Bladen senior Farrell Murchison. He broke the career rushing record for East Bladen Friday. Whiteville's Terrin Manning had 15 carries, 5 touchdowns and 330 yards on Friday. Plus more!
