The Wilmington Hammerheads return to postseason play on Saturday. They'll be heading across the country to face Sacramento. Tamera Young may not need a miracle, but her Chicago Sky team has to win on Friday to keep the season alive in the WNBA for Chicago. The losing skid is over at South Brunswick High School. The Cougars hadn't won a football game since 2012 until they beat Pender by 30 points last week. That's just one of the reasons we're honoring South Brunswick with the WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week award. Full story...

Week 3 of the high school football season is complete. Check out Friday's 5th Quarter with John & Trot. The New Hanover-Hunt game had an exciting finish. That was also the case for Trask-West Columbus. Friday's 5th Quarter also featured an impressive flea flicker on Laney's first play from scrimmage. It resulted in a touchdown for the Bucs against Clinton. Plus, we showcased the baseball state championship ring ceremony in Whiteville, and even more! Full story...

We had high school soccer action from Bladen County on Tuesday night on WWAY between East Bladen and North Brunswick. The Eagles have only played six times this season. Four of the games ended in a deadlock. A handful of area football teams are ranked in the first AP high school football poll this season. Plus more! Full story...
