Pending school board approval West Brunswick has a new head baseball and football coach. Bob Hanna was up for board approval on Tuesday night in order to be the new West Brunswick football head coach. Hanna has been the head football coach at Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina the last 20 years. Pending school board approval the new head baseball coach at West Brunswick High is T.J. Spivey. He's been the head baseball coach at South Columbus the last two years. Full story...

As mentioned last week on WWAY Laney football & basketball standout Tariq Lane will not be returning to Buctown when school starts back. Lane has decided to move to Charlotte. Lane will also re-classify, which will add another year of high school eligibility to one of the most electrifying athletes in Wilmington. Mike Propst has been named head football coach at Ashley High School. Propst was the defensive coordinator at Ashley in 2011 and 2012. He was an assistant coach at Ashley for football and basketball in 2013. Full story...

The search is underway at Ashley High School for a new head football coach. Screaming Eagles head coach Tom Eanes informed his players on Tuesday that he's accepted a head coaching position in Morganton. The Burke County School Board last night approved Tom Eanes to be the new football coach at Patton High School. Full story...

Former NFL tight end Alge Crumpler will be returning to Wilmington this weekend. The New Hanover High graduate heads this year's induction class for the 2014 Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. On Wednesday we addressed the home scoring drought for the Wilmington Hammerheads. On Wednesday the NCHSSA adopted new guidelines concerning the mercy rule for high school football and basketball. The South Columbus High School community is mourning the loss of running back Cephus McGill. The sophomore died Sunday night. Hoggard senior basketball standout Trevor Singleton has signed on the dotted line to play college basketball.
