1 dead in Charlotte after tree falls on home, National Guard truck gets stuck during water rescue

CHARLOTTE, NC (WSOC) — One person has died and another has been hurt after a tree fell onto a home in northwest Charlotte Friday morning, according to MEDIC.
Much of North Carolina and South Carolina were drenched by rain on Thursday, and the tropical weather Friday morning added to flooding concerns.
A tree fell onto a home in Charlotte just after 5 a.m. on the 4200 block of Brookway Drive. MEDIC said one person was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Charlotte Fire Department said two children were also inside the home when the tree fell. However, they were not harmed. Click here to read more from WSOC.
In northwest Charlotte, Channel 9′s Eli Brand followed emergency crews wading through high water along Riverside Drive to help neighbors after a voluntary evacuation was ordered.
