People with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease living in special facilities in North Carolina can retain current levels of personal care services in the new year while their custodians appeal decisions to scale back Medicaid support.

The bill is part of the country’s increasingly confrontational stance with the West and has angered some Russians who argue it victimizes children to make a political point.

NC ferry runs aground in rough seas

A state-run ferry route connecting islands along North Carolina’s Outer Banks is back in service after a vessel ran aground in rough seas.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says the Motor Vessel Frisco ran aground in Hatteras Inlet about 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday with 35 passengers, six crew members and 19 vehicles on board. No injuries were reported.
