2024 NCHSAA 4th-round basketball playoffs results: Four local teams advance to regional finals
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With it being March, it’s only right for the madness to begin. Four local teams have advanced to the regional finals.
In Lake Waccamaw, (#3) East Columbus girls defeated (#10) Pamlico County 67-53. (#3) East Columbus will take on (#12) East Bladen girls in the regional finals, as the Eagles upset (#1) Falls Lake 68-59 on the road.
(#3) East Columbus will play (#12) East Bladen in the regional round on Monday, March 11th. It will be a battle between Bladen and Columbus County for a chance to make it to the 1A women’s basketball state championship. The winner of that game will play on Friday, March 15th in the championship game.
In Wilmington, (#1) Hoggard girls took down (#5) Richmond 50-41. (#1) Hoggard will play (#2) Rolesville on Thursday, March 14th. The winner will advance to the 4A women’s basketball state championship, which will take place on Saturday, March 16th.
Also in Wilmington, undefeated (#1) New Hanover boys defeated (#12) Panther Creek 63-61 with just seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. (#1) New Hanover will square off against (#2) Richmond on Thursday, March 14th. The winner of that game will play in the 4A men’s basketball state championship, which takes place on Saturday, March 16th.
