Input needed for Southeastern NC Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan update

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington is working with North Carolina Emergency Management to update the Southeastern NC Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan and they want to hear from the public.
The plan, which is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, helps local governments secure federal funding to better prepare for and respond to natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the planning process by completing a short public survey. Officials say the feedback will help guide how the region prepares for future disasters.
In addition to the survey, the first virtual public meeting for the updated plan will take place Monday, August 18, at 6 p.m. A local consultant will lead the session, and residents are invited to register and attend.
