ASHEBORO, NC (WFMY) — For the first time, we’re hearing from a Greensboro Amazon driver who saved the day back in March after finding a car flipped over into an embankment along her route in Asheboro.

The family identified the driver who flipped her car into an embankment as 76-year-old Shirley Roberts. They said Roberts tried to avoid hitting a dog when she swerved off the road.

Now, Robert’s family is expressing their gratitude for Amanda Smith, the Greensboro Amazon driver.

“Amanda is going to be our ‘Asphalt Angel’ and forever going to be a part of our family,” said Robert’s daughter-in-law, Eleanor Roberts.

Smith spoke to WFMY and took them back to that March day. She recalled being en route when she noticed a car on its back, wheels sticking up, and the roof completely crushed. Click here to read the full story from WFMY.
