Kirsten Gutierrez joined the WWAY News team in August 2016 as a general assignment reporter, who also shoots, edits and writes her own stories. She loves meeting viewers and being able to share their stories. She came to Wilmington after living in Greensboro, where she worked for FOX8 News. She was the weekend/fill-in producer for more than a year, and now she's trying things out in front of the camera. Kirsten is originally from Tucson, AZ, although she spent much of her childhood between Syracuse, NY, and Greensboro. Kirsten is an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Communication Studies. When she's not working, Kirsten loves to travel. She got the travel bug after studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia, for eight months followed by working abroad in Westport, Ireland, for three. Aside from traveling she enjoys watching football, working out and spending time with friends and family, as well as her pet tortoise Tucson (aka Tuc).
