Avoid Thanksgiving nightmares: Use ‘Meat and Poultry Hotline’

(KATU) — If you have some questions while preparing your family’s Thanksgiving meal, all you have to do is make a simple phone call.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s “Meat and Poultry Hotline” will be up and running all day Thursday.

You can call and ask how to keep your turkey from drying out or the best way to thaw it.

The USDA says don’t be nervous about contacting them. They’ve heard it all.

The department remembers one woman couldn’t find an oven bag, so she used a dry cleaner bag to wrap her turkey.

The USDA says of course, the bag melted and they had to tell the woman her turkey was not safe to eat.

If you need help this Thanksgiving, the number to call is 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854.)
