Brunswick County leaders meet for annual hurricane expo
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Hurricane season is upon us and Brunswick County emergency officials got together today to get ready.
About 120 people from a number of agencies across the county gathered for the annual Hurricane Expo at Brunswick Community College. Fire Marshal Scott Garner said the expo is important because it allowed communication and preparation before a big event happens.
“Meetings like this are extremely important,” Garner said. “The last time you want to be handing someone your business card or learning who someone is in the middle of incident, so we take these opportunities to bring all of our partners together.
Garner said even though forecasters say this will be a mild hurricane season, it’s always good to be ready because it takes just one big incident to do some serious damage.
