NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority installed a community water station over the weekend.

The station was opened in the Rockhill Road community at St. James AME Church as part of a pilot program designed to eventually connect residents with private wells to CFPUA’s water service.

The Rockhill Road community is dealing with contamination in their groundwater wells, including from PFAS, according to CFPUA. This station gives the community free, safe, CFPUA water.

CFPUA says they are currently working with dozens of homeowners in Rockhill to get them hooked up to clean water.
