CFPUA secures fuel for water systems
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At a press conference at the New Hanover County Government Center, Commission Chair Woody White announced that Cape Fear Public Utility Authority secured fuel for its water systems from a diesel provider at the Port.
In a news release, the CFPUA said it need fuel to keep the water treatment plants running.
CFPUA was exploring ways to find a fuel source. If it did not get the needed fuel within the next 48 hours, it would not be able to continue water service for public health and safety such as fire suppression and other life-sustaining activities. Also, customers would be without drinking water.
That potential crisis has now been averted for the time being.
