Charlotte native William Byron wins Daytona 500

NORTH CAROLINA (WWAY) — The 66th running of the Daytona 500 ended with a North Carolina native in victory lane.
William Byron, driver of the #24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports won the 66th running of the Daytona 500. The race ended with a wreck that happened just after Byron had received the white flag signaling the final lap of the race.
This is the Charlotte, North Carolina natives first Daytona 500 win. 2024 marks Hendrick Motorsports 40th year anniversary, which starts off with Hendrick’s 9th Daytona 500 victory.
This is the first time Hendrick Motorsports has won the Daytona 500 since 2014.
