NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One of the area’s most popular holiday events wasn’t as difficult to get tickets to this year.

Since 2005, guests have visited Airlie Gardens in the holiday season to take in the sparkling lights and festive sounds.

But as recently as 2022, tickets to ‘Enchanted Airlie’ sold out in just 15 minutes.

Tickets for the 2024 event went on sale Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., but some were still available into the afternoon.

Airlie Gardens says they added 1,000 more tickets this year, and worked with Etix to improve the purchasing process.

Director of donor relations Janine Powell said its great that more people will get to enjoy the lights this year.

“For us, Enchanted Airlie is a labor of love,” Powell said. “It starts pretty much year around. The lights start going up in July and so to be able to to offer it to more people makes us all happy because it is labor intensive but it is a labor of love.”

The fun runs nightly from November 29 through December 21. Time slots include 5:30-6:30 p.m., 6:30-7:30 p.m., 7:30-8:30 p.m. and 8:30-9:30 p.m.
