Families tired of being ‘stuck’ inside for days after winter storm

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After days of being stuck at home after winter weather many families went to the movies at the Pointe 14 Wilmington Sunday so they could finally get out of the house.

At first the historic snowfall around the Cape Fear was exciting for many.

“It was great, ice not so much,” parent Lacy Jacobs said.

“I thought it was cool.” I got to relax a little bit more before going back to school,” 8th grader Skyler Jacobs said.

Now that the snow lingers some families have been stuck inside for days. Heading out to the movies was a popular way to just get out of the house.

“It’s kinda fun to get out of the house because the last few days it’s been kind of a pain, and everyday is slippery and since the sun is coming out, it’s kind of melted down and me and my family can finally go out to do something,” 10-year-old Oliver Marshall said.

There were still several ways folks prevented themselves from getting stir crazy at home.

“We were stuck at home watching Netflix,” Lacy Jacobs said.

“I’ve just been playing electronics cause the snows been kind of a pain and I can’t really play in it anymore,” Marshall said.

As the snow continues melting away some students worry about going back to class.

“I thought it was nice like the chill back brain of mine says it was nice, but coming back is going to be stressful,” Skyler Jacobs said. “I know that.”

Parents have the opposite response. They are ready to get back on a normal schedule.

“Yes, let’s get back into routine. It’s nice having them home, but the routine is good also,” parent Mike Grassi said.

Either way hopefully the trip to the movies cleared their cabin fever.
