High rip current risk along all beaches Friday

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — While the weather has improved since Thursday’s rain, the ocean has gotten rougher.

A high risk of rip currents is forecast for all beaches Friday.

Everyone should stay out of the water, regardless of your swimming ability.

If you find yourself trapped in a rip current, don’t fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until you’re out of it then make your way back to land.

The National Weather Service says a moderate risk of rip currents will continue into Saturday.
