NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The weather will be nice for the rest of the week, but the ocean will not be as kind.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high rip current risk for Pender County and New Hanover County beaches until at least Friday.

Brunswick County beaches will fare a little better, with low to moderate risks along the coast.

Conditions are expected to improve for all beaches into the weekend.

If you find yourself trapped in a rip current, don’t fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until you’re out of it then make your way back to land.
